Feeling Without The Story… HUGE!

Posted Posted in Breathe Yoga Newsletter, Essential Topics

I’m writing today to talk about chapter 11 of The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer. It’s called Pain, the Price of Freedom. You see, we’re pretty much all carrying around old woulds, old hurts. Old pain. You can call it anger, sadness, or whatever. We all have our own flavors based on our own individuality and personal history, but it’s there. And for most of us, it’s not very fun to feel. But it’s there, and it wants to leave. And we want it to leave! So we have to learn how to feel. When it is fully felt, it is gone. So we aren’t suppressing or denying it, because that doesn’t work. That’s the “pay later” plan. But we aren’t wallowing in it and living in a story about it, either. That just perpetuates it, rather than allowing it to leave. There’s a fine line in between those two options, and that’s simply feeling. Being present with an energy in the body, and allowing it to move, which it actually wants to do.

I’ve written about Michael Singer’s book The Surrender Experiment before (here), and I knew I’d write about The Untethered Soul at some point. As often happens with my busy life, along with my “interesting” state of organization and discipline, is that I’ll read something and will know it’d be great to write about, but I won’t do it right away, and then time passes and it’s not fresh in my mind anymore. So the next best thing in the case of The Untethered Soul is this one chapter, which to me is pure gold. My friend and teacher John Mark Stroud had already given me the above description of feeling, walking that fine line between suppressing and wallowing. Simply being present with an energy we might not like, but without labelling it and judging it. And that’s pretty much exactly what Singer is saying in this chapter, but he goes into a bit more detail (it’s a pretty short chapter, though). The key, according to both of these living masters and others, is that it’s energy that wants to move through my system. So let it. Get out of the way and allow it to do what it’s programmed to do. Allow it to do what we can’t stop it from doing, not for very long, anyway. Well, I guess that’s not true. Many of us have been carrying this stuff around for decades and decades, and lifetimes if the reincarnation crowd is correct. Decades is long enough, though. It’s time to learn how to release this stuff. We are way beyond ready.

So Singer makes it very clear that we all have this old, old pain we’re carrying. It’s just a fact. So it’s really not even very personal. If you’re a human, you’re probably carrying around some old pain. I imagine it starts when we come out of the womb. We leave this awesome home of fluid that’s the perfect temperature where we just chill all day long, and then we pop out and it’s like, “Welcome to earth, kid. Now learn to breathe! And you have no choice in the matter, by the way. And you have have to do it now. So let me slap you on the ass! Oh, yeah, let’s cut that umbilical cord – scissors on your skin feel great! Are you having fun yet? Why are you screaming and crying??” That’s the beginning of our trauma here on earth. Welcome to the party.

Then we go through childhood, puberty, teenage years, schooling, making friends, whatever our family situation is, maybe some health issues, you name it. Then we become adults and have a new set of pressures. Life gets more heavy and serious. More health issues. And social pressures throughout the journey. You get the picture. And it continues, on and on until we lay the body down. But here’s the thing, nobody is teaching us about feelings! We aren’t learning that they’re simply energy that’s normal, harmless, and has to move through our system to leave. They might hang out for a while depending on the severity of the situation, but they’re all temporary. Temporary! There’s never been a permanent feeling. Nobody tells us this stuff, so of course we stuff them down or act them out. Of course we don’t want to feel. And our pain reservoir fills and fills. And now we’ve had enough, and it’s time to allow it to be released. Enter chapter eleven of The Untethered Soul. This might help you find the freedom that is actually your birthright.

So when you are triggered and have an emotional reaction, you can learn to witness it as an energy moving through the body. Be present with it, meaning you aren’t identified with it. You don’t think it’s part of what you are. It’s simply something you’re noticing. There’s a you that is totally independent of the feeling, and it’s totally fine, always. Fact. A great analogy is the sky and the clouds. You are the sky and the feelings are the clouds, the weather passing through. If the sky thought it was the weather, it would freak out a lot, especially during a big storm. But it knows by now that one hundred percent of these storms have passed fully, leaving no trace. It’s the same blue sky after the weather passes. So the sky is chilling the whole time! No big deal. Any kind of weather can come and go all day long, and it’s still the same sky. It’s fine. And that’s what we learn. No big deal. Do I like it? Maybe not. But as John Mark says, we learn to have an innocent relationship with it. An innocent relationship with anger, sadness, etc. He says they’re actually neutral, just like the color yellow. Some people like yellow and others don’t. Yellow itself is neutral, though. And so are these various energies moving through our systems.

This is pretty cool stuff, and I’m finding out more and more how it really is an integral component to our awakening. Awakening to what we really are, which is way beyond any feeling or energy. And way beyond our physical body, by the way. Nobody tells us this stuff growing up, though. Oh well, we will just have to learn it now. And as we release this old stuff, we feel lighter and lighter, and what’s underneath it just might start to shine through more and more. And those that have gone down this road already say that what’s been there the whole time, underneath these other layers of feelings, is a big ass ocean of peace and love. Amen!

Let me close by saying that staying out of the story can be very tricky, very subtle. So we practice. I first heard about all of this feeling business over ten years ago from a teacher named Gangaji. Then I heard about it again about five years ago through The Sedona Method. And I’ve done my best ever since to just feel, but looking back, I’ve been WAY into the story the whole time. Putting this into practice is a lot different than reading about it and understanding it intellectually. We have to be willing to be honest with ourselves when we’re wallowing. And when I say “the story” or “wallowing,” I’m talking about the commentary about why I’m feeling this way and how terrible or unfair it is. “I can’t believe this or that happened,” “This is unfair,” “Life sucks,” “I’ll never feel good again,” etc. When I have that chorus of thoughts accompanying the feeling, it can’t freely move.

What we want to do looks more like this: just go right to the body and feel the feeling, without even naming it. This is powerful, folks! “I feel energy in my chest or in my head, or even all over.” And then breathe right in the middle of it. Explore it and play with it. But you are literally not even using language to name it! There’s not a whole lot of thinking involved; that tends to get it stuck and to go back to a story. Just tell yourself, “This is energy moving through my system. And that’s okay. I’ll let it flow as it wants to. And I am being freed from some old pain now, and that feels AWESOME. Because when it’s gone, it’s permanently gone. I am being cleansed right now, that is a fact.” Wash, rinse, repeat. And as we do this each time it arises, we clear out all of this old stuff. Of course, that leaves the new stuff that I create, but since I’m learning to live in my wisdom/common sense and not in the chatterbox, I’m flowing through life WAY more smoothly and peacefully than before. So we are good on that front.

Awesome stuff, folks. Let me say that I’m learning all of this in real time and sharing it with you. So I’m practicing right along with you. This is big, big, big, though. Really big. An integral part of our awakening. So check it out, play with it, and just do your best. Keep the pressure down, though, because this should really be taught in middle school. So we are learning it now. Later, we’ll talk about how some of these old energies are superimposed onto present situations, and the feeling we get is really amplified. It’s cool when you notice this and can bust it, letting the present situation just be what it is, without throwing pain from decades ago on top of it. Awesome. So happy practicing and exploring folks! And as always, let me know if I can help.

Follow-up on Client & Psychic Medium

Posted Posted in Cool Supernatural/Paranormal Stuff

I recently wrote about a skeptical, non-woo-woo client that went to a psychic medium and had his mind very much blown, since she knew a ridiculous amount of stuff that she could not have possibly known (and that’s not on the internet, either). I wanted to give an update on how he’s doing, since life has forced his worldview to expand. That can be tough for people, unless they start to get comfortable living in “I don’t know.” And let’s face it, we really don’t know much of what we think we know. We believe. Big difference. And trust me, I’ve had plenty of pain in my life from thinking I know… Still working on that 🙂

I’ve seen him again since I wrote it up initially, so here we go with the update. I think he’s doing great, by the way, and what I did not expect was that he’s already been to another medium! He’s not a medium addict or anything; he just wanted another experience to help him figure this stuff out. More information. Smart move, I say. He thought the first one was more comprehensive, but the second one still nailed some stuff. But it’s not so much about facts that they know but rather what messages they have for us. “How can this help me in my life?” Here we go…

My message to him after the first time he went was to not try to figure it out or analyze it too much. Relaxing into it and just sort of breathing with it for a while tends to work better. Just let it sink in. And don’t be in a rush or have a time frame. No rush, no pressure. Just let it be. Get okay with not knowing. He said that what he experienced runs totally counter to everything he’s believed his whole life, and that can be a very big deal! So seeing me is helping to get him through this process more smoothly and with less pain. And I’m proud to say that he is kicking ass in that department, not even trying to understand what happened. He’s just sort of letting his mind be blown. And in the meantime, he’s seeing that this is totally okay! He continues to live as usual, and the earth is still spinning just fine. So he’s doing an excellent job of just being open and seeing that how he used to see things probably needs to be expanded in order to account for this. And it’s okay to live in peace and just let that unfold as it wants to. Great job, dude!

Now for the second medium he saw… The guy knew that his dad (deceased) had given him three rings. As my client said, “Not four, not two, but three. I don’t know how he knew that, but he did.” His dad and uncle liked to gamble, and they told him to buy some lottery tickets. I don’t remember if they said to buy three of them or not, but he bought three. And he never plays the lottery. So he bought three of them for $3 each. And what do you know? One of them was a winner. It paid $20, so he netted $11 overall. Now, I’ve never heard of this happening before, but it’s kind of cool. And I know it’s not exactly a tremendous amount of money, but it’s still cool. When most people buy any number of lottery tickets, they do not leave with more money than they came with. That’s just a fact, that’s just math. That’s why the lottery exists; it’s legal gambling. I’m sure people could use numerology or something like that to interpret the significance of the numbers, like 3 and any grouping of 1’s. Three has always had significance to the numerology folks, and the idea of Oneness is emerging more and more as the ultimate truth, ultimate reality. That we are all made of the same stuff. Some say that stuff is energy, some say it is love (and maybe that’s actually saying the same thing). And let’s not forget one of the messages of quantum physics – that the entire universe is connected. Literally. Now. You are connected, literally, to everything in the universe, now. What?? So cool. So who knows what’s up with the lottery tickets? And honestly, who cares, no big deal. If there’s meaning, I’ll stay open and let it come to me. I’ll take eleven bucks, though.

The good stuff to me is in regards to healing relationships. His dad said he really wanted him to heal his relationship with his mother, which has been strained for a long time. My client was also told that it’d be good if he were there whenever she dies (she’s elderly, but not actively dying or anything like that). This opened the door for us to do some forgiveness with his mom in our session, so I was psyched! Because I know how powerful this can be for our peace. Thanks, Dad… And know that forgiveness is not about condoning anything that she did; it’s about not holding onto it anymore, so that my client can be at peace. It’s not the snakebite that harms you, but rather the venom that courses through your veins after the bite. I think I heard Wayne Dyer say that. I love that guy, by the way. I’m writing this from the mountains of NC, and I started the audio version of his 2012 book Wishes Fulfilled on the drive up. The Audible app is super handy, by the way. The intro part of the book was 45 minutes long, and it’s amazing. He tells the tale of a miracle healing of Bell’s Palsy that took only four weeks, using the mind and our inherent power that we’ve been out of touch with for a long, long time. As we awaken to what we really are (and always have been), which is actually infinite and thus VERY powerful, these so-called “miracles” will be commonplace. Really! Okay, back to the story of forgiveness and healing with my client’s mom…

We also talked about him possibly writing her a letter or email. And here’s the thing, since it’s about HIS healing and releasing and cleansing, he doesn’t even have to send it! Just start it. And change it. And add. And subtract. It’s a living document, with no rules, so you have the green light for your heart to say anything it wants to. And the letter (or email) changes and morphs into exactly what it should be, again for YOUR healing. No rules, no time frame. Just show up and let it flow. Even if “Dear Mom” is all that comes out the first time you sit down with it, the process has started. And it can be very powerful. You might find yourself bringing up things that you didn’t even know were bothering you, or that you had forgotten about. So cool…

The other message that was cool was that his dad apologized for taking another family member’s side during a conflict many years ago. He said that he was now able to clearly see what had really happened, and that he had totally made a mistake. My client knew this the whole time, because the other family member had made up this whole story that was untrue, and his parents had taken her side. It can be nice to get confirmation, though. Also note that they do know the truth on the other side! Nothing is hidden, because there’s nothing to hide. Because we’re actually all innocent. And for those interested in Christianity, that’s the message of the story of the prodigal son, which my sources say is the story that Jesus told more often than any other. Interesting…

Isn’t this cool, people?? I’m just the middle man, passing on what I heard. And I LOVE the messages about healing our relationships. They also said that they love it over there, which they said the first time as well. So we have that going for us… Let me close by saying that for many of you, this is business as usual. For those that are experiencing some questions, though, because this does not fit with your worldview, I’d say first of all to just relax into it as best you can. The earth is still spinning just fine. Life goes on just fine. So there’s no pressure, no rush. Get a session for yourself if you want to. That’s what I do – just show up with no pre-conceived ideas and see for myself. Psychics, energy healing, acupuncture, reflexology, craniosacral therapy, you name it. Just do it if you have any curiosity at all and you feel to. Try to find someone with an excellent reputation, of course. Email me at acleanmind@gmail.com if you want me to pass on contact info. And regarding worldview, if you really take a look, maybe it’s fine to not know how things work. Maybe it’s even easier, in fact! Hey, that’s one less thing I have to be in charge of. Now there’s less on my plate. Maybe I’ll feel lighter and more free. And finally, maybe it’s even truer, since we probably don’t really know; we believe. And when we relax about it, that’s just fine. And then maybe the truth can actually find us.

Skeptical Client’s Mind Blown By Psychic Medium

Posted Posted in Client/Friend Stories, Cool Supernatural/Paranormal Stuff

NOTE: This is GREAT for skeptical folks. And for many of you, this will be ho-hum, business as usual. Also skeptical is totally fine! Some skeptics are very closed minded, though. So be aware of that. It’s important to have an open mind, being honest with yourself when it’s time for your beliefs to shift. Or being honest with yourself when they are already shifting and you’ve been in resistance. Because it’s okay, as we will see. And be honest about this – do you really know how things work?? I sure don’t, and I sure thought I did! And science doesn’t really have a clue yet, by the way. Here we go…

I had an extremely cool session recently. My client told me that he’d had a reading with a psychic medium not long before, so I was intrigued. This woman told him things that she could not have known. Some of them, in fact, he didn’t even know; he verified them with relatives after the session. And she was right again. Also note that these are the types of things are not on the internet. Suffice it to say that his mind was blown, similar to how mine was the first time I had such an experience in 2003 or 2004. First let’s talk about the content of their session, and then let’s talk about the implications as well as how my client is feeling about all of this. Because his worldview is being forced to expand, and that can be scary. But at the end of the day, it’s all good. Very good. Actually, it’s necessary… Mine is expanding all the time. And I’m doing my best to learn how to let it expand smoothly rather than forcing Life to crack it open.

So my client did not give the woman his full name, but just his nickname and last initial. He’s not a “woo woo” type at all, so he wanted to be absolutely sure she couldn’t do some private investigator work on him before they met. When you meet these people, though, the ones that come highly recommended, you see that the thought of them being deceptive and trying to memorize facts about you from the internet is utterly ridiculous. They just have a gift, and they’re passing on information that they get. It’s up to you to interpret it. She opens up and translates to him what she sees. And here is some of what she saw.

She knew right away that he had a tattoo. Of an eagle. Which was under his clothing and could not be seen. Bam! She knew that he had had three surgeries in his abdomen. Bam! She knew that his heart had stopped once. He told me that there had been complications in one of the surgeries and that this had indeed happened. Bam! That was the appetizer, and then relatives started coming in. Also note that when we met, he didn’t have the notes he’d written down, so this is all just what he remembered. There’s more that won’t be written about here. You might find that this is enough to pique your interest, though. Because this really happened! And our worldview must expand to explain it. Fact. Back to the story…

A man came in that loved Telly Savalas (for you young’uns, he was an actor and singer that died in 1994). This did not ring a bell, but as she kept describing this man, it was clearly his uncle. He asked his sister later if their uncle liked Telly Savalas. And what did his sister say? Absolutely, he loved Telly Savalas! He even traveled to Las Vegas once to see him perform live. Bam! A woman came in that identified herself as his aunt. The medium said she had a poodle and smoked cigarettes like a chimney. And you know what? His aunt always had a poodle and smoked cigarettes like a chimney. Bam! The medium said his grandmother showed up, and the medium asked my client if his grandmother had a ring similar to the one she was wearing (which sounded a bit unique). He had no idea, so he asked some family members. And what was the answer? Again, it was yes. Bam!

Finally, let’s get to the main message that these folks had for my client. It’s all good over here on this side. All good. All. Good. Let that sink in for a moment, because it often doesn’t seem all good here on Earth. Trust me, I’ve had major issues with Earth and the setup here! I might write about that more, or maybe it’ll be more appropriate for my next blog, A Deep Mind, when I start that in like fifteen years. I actually do have the websites and all that, just waiting for the right time…

Also note that you are not separate from “the other side.” That’s part of the message. “Live your life as best you can and then we’ll see you when the time is right, and it’ll be quite the celebration. But we are here with you now, it’s just that most people are not very aware of it.” Look around, though, and people are waking up all over the place, in greater numbers than ever before. And if you start to ask people if they’ve had any “weird experiences,” they’ll start to tell you their stories. Trust me, because I started opening up a good while ago, and that’s exactly what happened. And now I find myself working in an office in which people tell me things they’ve never told anyone. So I’ve heard lots of these stories by now and will start sharing them more and more. I’ve been feeling that out here at this blog, if you can’t tell…

Back to the experience with the medium… What we have now is a bunch of stuff that this woman could not have known, unless it really is true that the world doesn’t work like I thought it did. This leads to how my client is feeling. I’ll know better when I see him next, but he was definitely in WTF? mode last time. And you know what? That’s normal! How on earth could he not be? Remember that our wisdom/common sense often normalizes how we feel. So if he were to check in and ask his good voice rather than the chatterbox about feeling unsure or off-kilter, it might say something like, “That’s totally normal and totally fine. Relax into this and give it some time. Just let it sink in. Keep doing your job and living as usual and just let things unfold.” So I helped to reaffirm this, and I’m excited to help him relax into an expanding worldview going forward. Or even just being okay with the WTF? feeling and letting it be and not worrying about it. Because that won’t help… And let’s face it, the earth is still spinning. He still has the same job, car, family, house, etc. There’s no need to freak out in actuality. Just relax into it, and I’m always here to help. And we will get out of the way and allow our worldviews to expand together.
